The Start of a Brand New Day

September 13
I love the coffee “mug."  When staff were setting the tables for breakfast last night, we thought the bowls would be for oatmeal or some other cereal.  How cool to find out they could be filled with coffee.  I could get used to this!
Along the way are taps for washing and/or filling water containers.  This one is right outside our auberge, a popular stopping point not only for the night, but also for a snack, meal, or break for those who choose to complete the route to Roncesvalles in one day.
Small cairns dot the side of the Camino from time to time.  This one is near the beginning of our tough ascent for the day.  I leave my father's medal (to the right of the scallop shell), to offer today's walk for his suffering and as a prayer for him to watch over us.
