More good news on this, our second visit of the day. Beth's breathing tube has been removed, and she is able to communicate in a word or two at a time, and smiles at our lame jokes. She is still very weak; for example, she spends the better part of an hour trying to move her hand from the bed to the handrail. But by the end of the visit, she has managed to roll onto her side to relieve her aching back.
