We have just returned (to our new lodgings) from the hospital, and Beth looks much better; she is now in a sitting position, recognizes us, and is responding to basic commands like squeezing our hand. She is still heavily sedated to allow her feeding tube to remain in place while she continues to gain strength, so she has not been able to talk or fully gain her surroundings. And although she is still the most seriously ill patient in the ICU, her latest lab results show that her functions have largely returned to normal ranges.
We will see her again at the evening visitation opportunity, and will post any updated information later tonight.
