Getting to Know the Neighborhood

Yet another closed library.  And we wonder if it's closed permanently, considering the large banner saying “Stop Library Cutbacks."  Since the hours are still posted, we do plan to return and find out.

Street signs are tile plaques high on whatever happens to be the corner building.  It's hard enough to read them as a pedestrian standing right under them; I'd hate to be a driver looking for a street name.

Bike lines with curbs--brilliant!

Maybe David, as an architecture student, can appreciate this building.  Jerri and I wonder about the practicality of the pointy end and have to ask, “Why?"

Our neighborhood may be quite close to the Camino, but it seems doubtful many pilgrims would pass through it.  Yet, one morning I walk out the main entrance to see another pair of abandoned boots.  I suppose there could be another explanation...

In Yamaguchi Park, what we'd taken to be a playground in passing turns out to be, on closer inspection, a fitness area, complete with the warning to consult your doctor before starting any exercise program.

The fountain and duck pond in Yamaguchi Park.

The courtyard area lined with bars and restaurants that I call the fountain plaza.  There is a formation of jets on the ground in one corner, although for days we hadn't seen them shoot water.  Saturday evening, we come looking for a place to have dinner and they're putting on quite a show while young children shriek through them.  Since they go off and on at different times, they're hard to capture as a still photo and do any justice to the overall effect.  The sheets of water are a bonus--we had no idea those metal frames had anything to do with fountains.
