In two visits to see Beth today, we find her sitting up, able to stay awake for the whole visit, and telling us she's bored. But she will not be moved from the ICU (UCI in Spanish, or "Ooshee" as the staff pronounces it) until she has no seizures, has no lingering confusion about where she is and what is going on, is on oral meds instead of intravenous injection, and is eating and drinking properly. Her speech is still groggy and takes effort, but she continues to improve each time we come. When she is eventually moved to a regular ward (we don't know yet in which department), visiting hours will be unlimited.
