Signs, Signs, Everywhere Signs

The sign at the bottom of the long climb up to the albergue.

We had to take a photo of this sign for bicyclists. We came upon it shortly after a rude and reckless cyclist had fallen off a narrow, mild shelf road.  He was uninjured and the poor pilgrim he almost collided with was kind enough to help disentangle the bike from the brush.

A roadside café welcomes pilgrims.

We got a kick out of the little map of the village this sign points to.  Too bad you can't take it with you so it could actually be useful.  Then again, with a camera, you can.

Another closed library.  Note, Briargate friends, that it is only open Mon-Fri, 9-3:30.  Ha!  Also, where's Karen in this picture?

 A dollar store!

Pamplona's claim to be being the primera city of the Camino.

Yet another closed library.

Not exactly a sign, but still cool, this world map is made of those rolled bales of hay in the dark plastic.

A pretty congenial “beware of dog" sign.

Graffiti on a tunnel wall that we could appreciate.

Again, not a sign, but too funny to pass up.

  1. wow, that world map of hay is really awesome! i wonder if someone stood where you guys were with a radio or mobile and coordinated with people on the field to push the hay into the right spots or if they had to draw a massive map on the floor so that even when the crop grows in the field, they grow around and within the world map leaving the outline free. would be cool to know. :)
