Biblioteca Y Filmoteca de Navarra

September 21
This is the new main library.  I could have taken hundreds of photos and could talk a blue streak about this library, but I will be brief.

Check out the amount of space between stacks and the shelves that don't need weeding.

The reading, studying, and computer areas are spacious and airy and spread around the building.  There are also enclosed study rooms.

They have a vending/snack area, a theater, and an exhibition hall.

The children's area is really a library within a library.  And we saw only a portion of the building.

It was totally weird being on the patron side of a guest pass for a computer.

And for you Briargate pages, the Spanish children are just as rough on the books as American children.  There are at least four reasons I would have sent this poor book to Review.  :-)

The biggest difference between the libraries we've visited and Briargate?  They are so quiet.  There are “shh" signs scattered around and the people actually obey them.  Very much like the libraries of my youth, where even a whisper sounds loud and disruptive.
