The Trouble Starts

October 4
As the sky lightens, we get back on the path. We pass this pilgrim monument sundial on the way out of Atapuerca.

Out here it seems you have to pay in one form or another for the wonders you encounter.  Following the perimeter of a military installation, we hit a steep, winding section of what our guide book calls “rolling boulders"--loose stones large enough to slip and slide on, or turn an ankle, or worse.
Our reward at the top is a flat area graced with a beautiful stark cross...
...a stone circle...
...and an inspirational passage.

We've heard so much about Burgos that this marker motivates our feet ever onward.

  1. Holy cow! You two are covering so much ground! Every time I check the updates on the blog I can't believe how much you've done (even if the posts come in out of order and sporadically). And how on earth do you have time to post all of these?! So glad you figured out how to use the Blogger app!
