Albergue Do Cebreiro

October 14
The overwhelming desire to get dry and warm makes observing details about this municipal albergue secondary.

By the time we've showered and settled, the rain has begun in earnest again.  People coming in after us are soaked; guess we arrived before the worst of it.  In fact, the weather is so miserable, we are not the least bit interested in going back out, even for dinner.  Instead, we pool our resources:  tea bags, two apples, an orange, a granola bar, and half a sleeve of digestive biscuits--and eat dinner in the kitchen/common room.  This kitchen barely has any supplies, but all we really need are two cups and a pot to boil water.  Jerri uses her pocketknife to cut up the fruit.

While we're eating and journaling, a group of Asians (they seem to be various people who've gotten together for the purpose, but not a formal, organized group) manage to "eat in" as well, except they have a more substantial hot meal.  How they do it with the limited equipment, we don't know; but the poor young man who makes the rice apparently cooks it too long because he has been scrubbing the bottom of the pot now for an awfully long time.

The best part is the outlet right next to my seat at the table.  Even if I am unsuccessful in sending posts, I am able to at least write a few drafts.  As the wind howls outside and the fog blankets the building, I'm hoping very hard--but not expecting--better weather for tomorrow.
