Another Night in Xunta-ville

October 16
The Xunta...

...is nothing special to write about.  The only thing worth mentioning is that two men are using the clothes washing basins (it looks like they are cleaning everything they have with them) and jabbering away.  Another woman and I wait about fifteen minutes.  We roll our eyes at each other and she gestures with her hand that they are doing more yakking than washing.  When it doesn't look like the men will be done anytime soon, I give up on it.  Since there is rain in the forecast for tomorrow anyway, I decide I will just air out the shirts.  Even though they will not be clean, I know I will not smell as bad as many people, who must wear their clothes for days before washing them, if at all.  Frankly, some of the dorm rooms smell like locker rooms.  Maybe that's why the windows are always open, no matter the temperature, no matter the weather.

When we're ready to go look around town and eat dinner, we discover it's raining again--hard enough that we are forced to put on our rain gear.  Instead of taking the stroll through town, we choose to eat first, in the plaza.  At the end of the meal, for dessert I try a regional specialty, tarta de Santiago, an almond cake.  It's very good.  While we have been eating, the boys have been running around the plaza, trying to collect sellos in their credencials.  We also reunite with someone from our first week, Kirstie, who updates us on some of the others we started out with from Orisson.

By the time we've finished eating and visiting with a couple, Andy and Linda, who we've been crossing paths with for several days, the rain has stopped.  We wander around to see what there is to see and to find the two local churches.  But there isn't much to see, and both churches are closed.  So we head back to the albergue for an early night.
